An educational meeting with students was held at Baku Slavic University at the initiative of the Coordination Center for Organ Donation and Transplantation of the Ministry of Health. The meeting provided detailed information about the importance of organ donation, the work done in this area, and the role of donation in human life.
Opening the event with an introductory speech, the Chairman of the Baku Slavic University Student Youth Organization, Rasul Huseynli, noted that such meetings are of particular importance in terms of forming a sense of social responsibility among young people: “Education of young people and their active participation in initiatives that value human life lay the foundation for a healthy society of the future.”
Then, Gunay Abbasova, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Coordination Center for Organ Donation and Transplantation, made a speech and said that organ donation is a human duty and this step is as valuable a decision as saving a person’s life: “Donation means becoming a light in a person’s life. We want young people to approach this topic not only as a medical, but also as a moral responsibility.”
Then, the center's doctor-coordinator Mehriban Aliyeva made a speech on the topic "Why is it important to be a donor?" She noted that today hundreds of thousands of people in the world are eagerly awaiting a transplant operation, and each donor's decision can change the lives of several people: "Donation is not just a medical process, but also the embodiment of compassion, sharing and human love."
During the event, students showed great interest in the topic. They asked questions about the legal aspects of donation, its implementation on a gratuitous basis, and the difference between organ transplantation after death or during living donorship. Representatives of the center answered all the students' questions in detail.
At the end of the meeting, some students who participated in the event voluntarily joined this noble mission by signing a consent application approved by the Board of the Ministry of Health to become donors after death.
At the end of the event, an educational video was shown reflecting the importance of organ donation and the changes it makes in human life. The video was met with great interest and emotional impact by the participants.
